Ngoma field trip
So I’ve just come back from another field trip, and it’s time to let you know more about what’s going on around here. I’ve visited five schools, so as such that was quite the same as my last field trip, putting aside the difference in implication of the people there and so on… I think it’s just a better idea to tell you an anecdote of the trip, so here it is:
I was visiting one of the schools on wednesday, and these schools are only primary schools, sometimes secondary as well, but that means the youngest children you’ll find there are around five or six. So I was walking around the school yard with my colleagues, the school director and a few parents when we arrive at the cow shed, we started having a look at it and talking about it’s general state when I heard some noises coming from the other side of a small hedge, so I turned around and saw a small round face sticking out of it just staring at me wide eyed.
As the time past we walked around other facilities in the school, and always there was this small kid following me around, staring at me. When we’d finished, and most people were busy doing other things, one of my colleagues, a local, talked to the little boy. I don’t know what he told him, but the child came towards me hesitantly and when he was less than a few centimeters away, he gave me a hug… It was really cute, and I know that some of you who know me will find it weird that I should find that cute, but it really was! And by the way, he gave me the authorisation to take some pictures of him, so here he is, with his buddies (second from the left), and alone:
Oh, and if you want another anecdote, I ate cows intestines (not much, thankfully), and let’s just say it’s an acquired taste. I don’t think I’ll acquire it. Ever. Bleah.
